In recent years, craft beer has enjoyed tremendous popularity, so much so that numerous microbreweries are popping up in European capitals.
In France, there are 1600 of them located throughout the country. The Grand-Est region is obviously affected by this boom, which allows the great creativity of brewers to emerge. Beer ranges are expanding, with styles as varied as New England IPAs, Milk Stouts, Sours, and Gose.
The craft beer movement is well and truly present in the region. But the region is also known for its rich brewing history.
Since the Industrial Revolution, the city of Strasbourg has thrived around beer. From the ancient icehouses to the industrial development of beer, to the current revival of craft brewers, 200 years of history will be recounted during this unusual tour.
How was beer born in Strasbourg? Who were the architects of its development? What traces of this past can be found in the city? What was the bottom-fermentation revolution?
